Numerology: How To Do It & What Your Numbers Mean

by Courtney Somer

Numerology, like Astrology, can be somewhat addictive. I had always been interested in my ‘numbers,’ but never truly understood their meaning or knew how to figure them out. Then, during my Kundalini yoga training, we took a deep dive into the multifaceted world of numerology including studying karma (which informs your personality) and even what colors are best to wear.  Interested? The following is a basic guide on how to do your numbers and what they mean. If you’d like to go more in depth, check out the links below.

First you’ll work out your numbers based on your birthday, month and year (Step 1). These numbers will correspond to different meanings of various aspects of yourself.

Next, you’ll read about what your numbers mean in relation to the 10 subtle bodies [https://www.3ho.org/basics-ten-bodies]. We all tend to identify with our physical bodies (Step 2). Numerology states that we actually have bodies beyond the physical: three mental bodies and six energy bodies. The first 5 subtle bodies are mostly related to the physical body and 6 through 10 are more etheric. Your numbers will reveal areas you’re naturally strong or weak in, and what to do about your strengths and weaknesses.

Step 1. HOW TO FIGURE OUT YOUR NUMBERS

Keep in mind that any number above 10, you add together, and continue adding the total until you get a number below 10. So if your birthday is 6/25, it works like this:  6 + 25 = 31. 3 + 1 = 4, so your soul number is 4. Then take this number and look it up below in Step 2: What Your Numbers Mean.

The Soul

This is the day you were born and corresponds to the inner workings of a person. It impacts how you make decisions and is the force behind your personality.

The Mastery/Karma

This is the month you were born and corresponds to your homework assignment in this lifetime, what you carry within you, including challenges and opportunities. It also works with your relationships, so if you need work in this area, look to this number.

The Gift

This is the last 2 digits of the year you were born and corresponds to the gifts and talents you hold in this lifetime, what you are naturally good at.

The Knowledge

Take the last 4 digits of the year you were born and add them until you reach a number below 10. This corresponds to your destiny, what you bring into this lifetime. It also includes what you most likely mastered in a previous life. This includes your wisdom and expertise and all that affects your inner language.

The Path

Add your day + month + year to find out this number which is about your fulfillment in life and where you find the greatest joy. It is important to consider this in regards to your career and your goals in life so that they are in sync.
